Но он же странным образом продолжает: “Пойти на выборы и проголосовать так, как подскажет совесть (за кого-то(?) или перечеркнув бюллетень), так как действие, пусть и не любое, – это модернизационное(?!) поведение”. При том, что не допускается «хоть какая-то реальная политическая конкуренция» – по его же, Ходорковского, словам? Но в таком случая получается призыв принять участие в симуляции «модернизационного поведения», и не более того. Впрочем, нет: у ведомства гр-на Чурова будет больше оснований утверждать, будто «выборы состоялись» и граждане приняли в них активное участие. Ходорковский этого хочет?

Кстати, голосовать за «кого-то» просто бессмысленно: достаточно взглянуть (спасибо неутомимому http://zyalt.livejournal.com/!) на телефон стража политической пустоты гр-на Суркова: все на проводе (или, если угодно, на поводке)

Но у Ходорковского есть и другой вариант: тем, кто голосовать не желает, надо «активнее участвовать в соответствующих протестных акциях социальных сетей – и это тоже будет модернизационным поведением”. Правда, замечает, что “необходимо учиться выходить из интернета в “реал”, учиться рвать оболочку рабского поведения, надо прекратить уговаривать себя, что “от меня ничего не зависит”. Зависит! Модернизация – удел делателей, а не созерцателей, не приспособленцев”.

Своего рода ответ от другого «модернизатора» пришел тут же: несостоявшийся лидер партии “Правое дело” Прохоров заявил на встрече со студентами Московского международного университета, что вернется в политику, когда в стране “созреют условия для перемен”. Как раз-таки выход в «реал» заставил его усомниться в возможности именно того, к чему призывает Ходорковский: условия не позволяют.

При этом Прохоров отважно подтвердил свое намерение добиваться ухода Суркова. Но быстро испортил впечатление, когда на вопрос одного из студентов о возможности его встречи с президентом Медведевым или председателем Путиным, сообщил, что такая договоренность есть. Ждет-с. Жаловаться будет? Или сурово требовать?

Забавно, что еще раньше Прохоров назвал конфликт из-за его партии отражением борьбы между “консерваторами” и “прогрессивными людьми” и опять же заявил, что надеется на скорую встречу с руководством страны. Не иначе, чтобы проверить их на «прогрессивность». Или заверить в своей благонадежности? А им даже не интересно.

Слушателями лекции Прохорова “Молодежь и будущее России” стали два бывших московских мэра: Попов (который его и пригласил) и Лужков. Символично…

Национальная валюта слабеет, экономический спад усугубляется, с туризмом покончено, а международные санкции затронули жизненно важные секторы хозяйства. Треть доходов Сирии дает экспорт нефти и газа, который из-за санкций ЕС в ноябре вообще прекратится. И хотя режим президента Асада изумляет даже противников своей живучестью, сбои в экономике начинают задевать буквально все слои сирийского общества, бедных и богатых, порождая отчаянье во дворцах и хижинах.

Предпринимательские круги страны уже ропщут, теряя возможность продолжать свой обычный бизнес и не зная, что делать в этих условиях. Люди ограничивают свои покупки самым необходимым. «Мы все ожидаем, что их сломает», – говорит некий сотрудник администрации президента Обамы, – «именно экономика будет трясти их ежедневно, и противников и сторонников режима». Асаду уже отвели срок: от 6 до 18 месяцев – дольше он не протянет.

Но растет и неуверенность среди противников сирийского национал-социализма за рубежом: санкции могут больнее всего задеть простых сирийцев, что правящий режим способен обратить себе на пользу, успешно обличая происки внешних врагов – как иракский диктатор Саддам Хусейн в 90-х.

К тому же асадисты сегодня чувствуют себя более уверенно, подавив-таки наиболее массовые протесты в Хаме и Дейр аз-Зуре. «Аморальная» поддержка РФ и Китая в ООН также сыграла свою роль. Прекращение поступлений иностранной валюты власти также пытаются представить как малозначительное обстоятельство, хвастаясь некими резервами в 18 миллиардов долларов (а вот РФ за оружие платить решительно не желают и долги не возвращают!)

Но положение усугубляется: Турция, важнейший торговый партнер, грозит своими особыми санкциями, активы крупнейших банков страны упали на 20 процентов. Да и само правительство Сирии порой ухитряется нанести себе ущерб: например, попытавшись ввести запрет на импорт потребительских товаров, спровоцировав резкий рост цен, или принимая невиданный в сирийской истории бюджет – с увеличением расходов сразу на 60 процентов к прошлому году. Откуда возьмутся деньги, остается неизвестным…

Russia risks slipping into a period of political “stagnation”, President Dmitry Medvedev has warned.

In his videoblog, Mr Medvedev spoke about the lack of real competition in the political arena, heavily dominated by the pro-Kremlin United Russia party. “This stagnation is equally damaging to both the ruling party and the opposition forces,” he said.

Russia’s marginalised opposition has accused the authorities of harassment – a claim denied by the Kremlin. The opposition has also frequently complained of being denied access to airtime during recent election campaigns, saying the authorities give unfair advantages to United Russia.

“If a political opposition doesn’t stand the slightest chance of winning a fair election, then it degrades and becomes marginalised,” Mr Medvedev said on Tuesday. “But if the ruling party never has to worry about losing an election anywhere, then it too degrades and ‘bronzes over.’”

He said that for “these reasons it has become necessary to raise the degree of political competition”.

The president also admitted that Russian democracy was “imperfect”, but said the country was nevertheless “moving forward”.

He seems to use this vapid ‘blog-talk’ as not obligatory personal opining when aiming to avoid any commitment to do something as the president, though it’s obviously about things considered to be said officially and done by law enforcement – exactly what presidents are supposed for. Not this one?

Mr Sobyanin, 52, a close aide of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, had been approved earlier this month by both Mr Putin and his de-facto deputy as ‘national leader’  President Medvedev.

He is said to have not been too much triumphant with this appointment as to be inevitably estranged from the inner circle of the Supreme Minister Putin’s close aides and old buddies.

To thunderous applause he denounced the “Zionist regime” of Israel and said Israel would “disappear”.

On a number of occasions Lula has said that all he is thinking about once he leaves the presidency is to have a good rest and dedicate his days to fishing.

But he has also suggested that he would keep a close eye on his chosen successor.

“I am going to travel around the country to see what’s wrong and then I will call Dilma to say ‘my child, there’s something here you have to sort because I haven’t managed to in my time’”, the president said halfway through the campaign.

Dilma as Lula’s Medvedeff – the prolonged presidency?

Their call came just days after the jailed dissident Liu Xiaobo – a champion for democracy in China – was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The letter says freedom of expression is promised in the Chinese constitution but not allowed in practice. They say people who lived in Hong Kong while it was still a British colony enjoyed more freedom than is currently allowed in mainland China.

The letter is addressed to the National People’s Congress, China’s parliament. It was widely available on the internet – although it has already been taken down from many websites.

There is speculation that political reform will even be on the meeting’s agenda, after Premier Wen Jiabao recently issued a call for openness. Mr Wen told US broadcaster CNN earlier this month that calls for “democracy and freedom [in China] will become irresistible”.

In August, he said: “Without political reform, China may lose what it has already achieved through economic restructuring.”

But in a sign of possible resistance to those calls, China’s state media did not report them domestically.
